The Queen thinks the world smells like fresh paint.
Anytime the Queen of England goes to visit a location outside of Buckingham Palace, folks rush around to spruce things up. Carpets are replaced, roofs are patched, and walls are painted. So, when the Queen enters, all looks fresh and new and has been so recently repaired that the smell of fresh paint lingers. I would guess the same could be said of a host of dignitaries.
The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, is coming to Atlanta. Even more exciting, he is coming to Holy Innocents for the school's Convocation on November 8th and for Council for the Diocese of Atlanta on November 9th and 10th. He will be doing a wide variety of things for three days in our midst.
With that in mind, we are casting a critical eye at all of our spaces. Some just need a bit of paint. We want to tweak our sound system in the church as well. Another area that needs some love is our carpets, specifically in the Bishop Commons. We have attempted to clean it but the stains are not being helpful. If anyone has a contact in that industry, we would love to find a discount for a considerable amount of carpet. Please contact Caroline in the office if you have any connections or have a friend who might help.
We will share more information about Bishop Curry's visit as soon as we can. For now, we are just working to get things ready. If you would like to contribute to a fund to help spruce things up, please write a check to Holy Innocents. Please write "Holy Innocents Improvement Fund" or "HII Fund" in the memo box so we will know your intention to help with this quick process.
