We are six weeks into 2019. In some ways it feels like January was four months long and in other ways I feel like the year just got started. Either way, I can tell you unequivocally that 2019 is the year of the search. In no particular order, we have to find a new Organist and Choirmaster, a new part-time Director of Children’s Choirs, a new Associate Rector, and, thanks to the grant I talked about last time, a new Assistant for Children’s Ministries. That is four searches that need to be completed by May or June so we can get people moved and ready for next Fall. For this entry, I am just going to focus on those job searches.
I am pleased to announce that we have a stellar committee to seek our new Organist and Choirmaster. Rusty Paul will serve as Chair. He will be assisted by Cammie Ives, Mary Marvin Walter, Peggy Stapleton, Sally Parsonson, and Doug Peterson. I will be part of the process. We have a draft of the job description you can view by clicking HERE We ask you all to take a moment, read through it, let us know of any tweaks needed, and, most importantly, help us to find the right person to grow our music ministry. Part of this new person’s job will be to help find and hire our Director of Children’s Choirs.
We also have a solid draft of the job description for the Assistant for Children’s Ministries you can read by clicking HERE Megan Petenbrink and I are gathering folks for the search committee. Take a moment, read through it, and let us know what you think. If you know someone with the skills, please share their names with Megan or me.
As for Assistant Rector/Vicar, I am just beginning to envision what that search might look like. I am working with the staff and Vestry to think of what we want. The desire of the church, as listed in the parish profile and in my hiring process, is to grow. Finding someone who can help us do that is the true key. I will share more as we finalize this job description.
I am not worried that we will have trouble finding skilled and talented folks to fill these positions. We are a large, healthy church with a great deal to offer. My focus is to find the best fit. I want outrageously gifted folks who want to laugh, love, and lead this parish into a season of growth. I want to find coworkers who help make Holy Innocents’ a fun and fascinating place to be. I want committed, loving Christians who can model in their lives and their ministries the kingdom of God drawn near in hopeful exuberance.
2019 is the year of the search. Join me in praying that we find the right people. Join me in calling friends and family and anyone who might know someone to find out who is the best in the field in each of these areas. Join me in seeking the right people for Holy Innocents’ right now. What a joyful moment to be in together! Let’s grow now.
