So much energy for Lent is focused on repentance and sin that we often forget the reason for the season. The goal is to be in right and healthful relationship with God and one another. We talk about sin because it is what fractures and breaks those relationships. Sometimes we do something that actively injuries another. Other times, life simply happens and we lose touch with friends. Most of the time, we have friends and family in our lives that we don’t see as much as we want. To be clear, the purpose of Lent and almost all of Christian thought and ministry is simple: reconciliation. We are doing our best to find a way to prioritize relationships over all the other stuff that can get in the way.

With all of that in mind, the Wardens, Vestry, and I are delighted to renew our relationship with a longtime and dear friend of the parish, the Rev. John Porter. Father John will serve in the newly created role of Sunday Associate for Outreach. As the title indicates, he will be with us largely on Sunday mornings and focus his energy on helping our Outreach programs. I am delighted to have John with us again. He brings an infectious joy to every event and an unrivaled knowledge and love for this community. Please help me in welcoming the Rev. John Porter back home. We are all very please to have him with us!
