Baptism & Confirmation

We are delighted to welcome you and your loved ones into our community. At Baptism and Confirmation, we become members of the universal church and Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church as a local expression of Christ’s body. Baptism is the sprinkling of water on the head to symbolize a new life in Jesus Christ. Confirmation is a prayer for the Holy Spirit to continue the work of baptism in our life with the laying on of hands by our Bishop.

Holy Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, on the Day of Pentecost, on All Saints' Day or the Sunday after All Saints' Day, and on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the First Sunday after the Epiphany).

Upcoming Dates

  • February 11, 2024
  • March 30, 2024 | Easter Vigil
  • April 7, 2024 | Sunday after Easter
  • May 19, 2024 | The Day of Pentecost

Other dates may be scheduled with the rector, especially during the summer. We normally plan baptism for the 10:15 AM service, but we can also celebrate baptism at our 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM services in Christ Chapel. If you have a pastoral or emergency reason for baptism at another time, please speak to one of the clergy as soon as possible. Confirmation classes are normally led once a year depending on the bishop’s visitation schedule.
