Holy Innocents is delighted to offer a week-long iconography conference with internationally known artist Mary Jane Miller. The workshop will focus on the process of creating an icon. Mary Jane is an internationally known iconographer and author of seven books on the topic.
From her website:
Iconography image is structured by lines, color values, shapes, textures, space, and movement.
There is a world beyond straight lines and curves, yellow for the sun, green for the grass, red for roses, etc.
The earth's abundance & diversity can be found in tiny colored particles which make up egg tempera paint.
We use it to create divine image.
Artists of all levels are encouraged to join this prayer-filled and joyful practice.
The workshop will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Even if you cannot join us for the conference, Mary Jane will be part of the Ventulett Gallery show at the same time. She will be sharing some of the 300+ icons that she has for sale. The show will feature Mary Jane’s icons from a Christian perspective along with Judy Jacob’s paintings from a Jewish perspective.
