Outreach
On Thursday, June 29, Holy Innocents will host an Emmaus House’s Parents Night Supper for approximately 60 parents and their children who are enrolled in their Freedom School literacy enrichment program. The Outreach Committee is thrilled to provide the prepared meal, and we invite parishioners to join us in several ways:
· Supply desserts—brownies, cookies, cupcakes—and/or drinks—iced tea, lemonade, apple juice—for the parents and children
· Provide prepackaged snack bags for school snacks
Additionally, we need 4-5 volunteers to deliver and serve the meal to Emmaus House. This is a 2-hour time commitment from 6:00-8:00 pm.
The Emmaus House’s Freedom School is such an important ministry for the children in the neighborhood to help stop the “summer slide.” This six-week course helps close the achievement gap for children who face poverty and provides them with the educational resources they need to succeed.
