Recharge, Connect, and Inspire: Building Up Holy Innocents Together

This Presidents Day weekend, join us at Kanuga Conference Center in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina for a beloved parish tradition—a retreat that brings together all ages for a time of fellowship, games, singing, and connection. Whether you’re a new family just getting to know our community or a long-time member, this weekend is for you!

Come be a part of this special weekend as we embrace the spirit of 1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” Let’s make memories and build a strong foundation for the future!

Our retreat leader will be The Rev. Daniel P. Strandlund, rector of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in High Point, NC (Diocese of NC) where he has served since January of 2023. Daniel graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin in 2015 and has served churches in Alabama and Texas.  In 2022 he completed an MA in Systematic and Philosophical Theology through the University of Nottingham in the UK (long distance) and in October of 2024 began a DPhil in theology at the University of Oxford.  When he is not touting his fancy academic credentials, he enjoys music, exercise, driving around in his Jeep, travel, the NWSL, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with his nerd friends.  He loves a good story and believes you can tell a lot about a community by how well they play together.  He and his wife, Lucy, live in Winston-Salem, NC where Lucy (also a priest) serves as an associate rector at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  They have one cat and a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and other kids who call them aunt and uncle.

Event Coordinator The Rev. Stewart Lucas
