The Rev. John Porter

The Rev. John Porter is a retired Episcopal priest who has served Atlanta parishes for more than 35 years. Most recently he was a faculty member at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, where he taught courses on Ethics and The Jewish Life, the latter in concert with the rabbinical staff of Temple Sinai in Sandy Springs. Porter received his master's degree in theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and has taught theology at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N. Y., as well as the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va. John Porter has visited the Republic of Haiti over 40 times since 1998 and has assisted in raising more than $500,000 to build schools and churches. He is married to Mary, who has visited Haiti three times. Together John and Mary have two children, Susanna Mees, an elementary school teacher at Spalding and Woodland Elementary Schools in Sandy Springs and Geoffrey Porter who serves on the technology staff of Holy Innocents' Episcopal School.
